Day 10 - Final Florence Day For The Sipping Sorellas!

Wow. It is hard to believe the week in Florence is coming to an end. Our last day we had our scheduled visit to the Galleria Dell’ Accademie to view David in all his glory. Somehow we ended up at the front of the line for our 10:45am start- rockstars. This museum is much smaller than the others we have visited. The paintings and sculptures are incredible. The hall of Prisoners and the Tribune leading to the statue of David shows sculptures of slaves in various stages of development. You can see Michaelanglo’s process in his sculpting.

David does not disappoint, at 17 ft tall it is immense and perfect.

After the museum our plan was to trek around collecting any souvenirs we might like and then head back to the VRBO to chill until dinner. We did manage to get home at just after 2am! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

After the museum we had a delicious lunch at a restaurant close to the museum. The meals were all delicious and we were served complimentary Limoncello and profiteroles. Every restaurant we have tried has been amazing.

We walked into the Florentine streets to find treasures to take home. The tourist season hits full swing in Italy as of May- we could tell right away- the streets were packed with people. We have been so lucky on all of our bookings and excursions, the weather has been ideal and the number of people manageable. We can’t imagine visiting in the summer.

After a cocktail session just past the Ponte de Vecchio we did a bit more shopping as we wandered one last time. We decided we would start dinner early so we could return to the VRBO early to pack and rest. We found a great little spot and and enjoyed some amazing food. The bathroom needed a few repairs but even half a toilet seat seems like an indulgence.

Our stroll home was fun and lively.

We spotted the Lion’s Head Irish pub and decided on a night cap! The quiet atmosphere needed some fun, they are lucky we showed up! ๐Ÿ˜œ We meet folks from Ireland, Spain and many from the US. Meeting others and hearing their stories is inspiring.

We requested songs- to help the DJ out- lol. It was another night of reliving many high school memories. We sang and danced into the night. Needless to say our return at 2am was neither early or quiet.

Lori and Christine were set to get up at 4am. We tried to power right through but we all ended up crashing - even on the couch!

We couldn’t have possibly planned all of the laughs and fun together. The trip celebrated all of our years as friends the many more we have yet to spend together. Fifty is lookin good!
