The energy of all being together is electric! It is hard to believe we are so lucky to come together in Italy to celebrate turning a half century and to celebrate years of unbreakable bonds.
Erica, Julie and I hopped the express train from Rome to Florence this morning. The ride was smooth and we really enjoyed the epic Tuscan hillsides as they appeared. Glancing at the screen we saw we were travelling 249 km/h!!! 😮😮😮
Once in Florence we walked to the VRBO and waited for Christine and Lori to arrive in their taxi! I’m sure that was the loudest reunion that sidewalk has ever heard!
The Sipping Sorellas! |
The VRBO is perfect! Spacious and modern. Three large rooms each with ensuite. We visited and regrouped, cracked the Champagne and enjoyed the company and our Tuscan abode.

We ventured out to search for drinks and goodies. The Duomo appeared as we walked East.

Lots Of Miles To Come For These Feet!! |
Consulting IG we decided to try the Art on the Roof bar overlooking the Duomo. We enjoyed our beverages on the sunny rooftop for a few hours.

The search was then on for dinner. Not yet on Italy time we found a cute open restaurant and enjoyed a fabulous Italian meal filled with pizza, lasagne, cheese and wine. Amazing! We ended up eating at the spot where Christine first viewed Italian hanging meat!
Yummmmmm!! |

Apres cena, first gelato for Lori and Christine! Delicious. We scooped up some breakfast supplies for the VRBO and set off for home. Even when we get home early, we rarely wind down before midnight or one. We get to chat to our families in Canada and usually find a second wind chatting with each other!
Tomorrow starts at 10am with a Secret Food Tour of Florence and a few masterpieces in Uffizi in the afternoon. No rest for the fifty-year-olds!!! Can’t wait for the laughs tomorrow.
PS - Julie M took a tumble on the uneven sidewalk ledge! She went right down and a kind Italian man was trying to help. We hope she isn’t too bruised up, but at least no big injuries from the fall!
PSS - There is no replacement for Julie W, but we brought Flat Julie (see first photo of the sorellas) so she knows we are always missing her. 💗
